Job Description Summary The GE Vernova(GEV) Onshore Wind(ONW) Grid Applications & Integration Technical Leader provides essential grid applications support for customer proposals and orders, while leading grid integration activities including grid advocacy and electrical simulation modeling efforts. This role interacts regularly with customers, grid authorities, application engineers, commercial and sales teams, project engineers, project managers, product line leaders, new product development teams and product service. You will provide our customers with engineering excellence, configure machine options to meet customer needs, execute technical due diligence and find creative ways to differentiate the GE offering for every deal. This is a senior engineering position as a technical leader for grid application and interfaces in ONW Electrical Engineering and has wide latitude for independent action, judgment, and decisions. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities As the ONW Grid Applications & Integration Technical Leader, you will: Lead and mentor other senior and junior engineers to accomplish the priorities for grid applications and interfaces in GEV ONW Engineering Determine control settings for GEs WindCONTROL plant controller for wind farm projects Identify requirements for coordinating voltage control with other power plants in the region Help customers understand what features & settings they need to help them comply with grid codes Adapt and provide power system load flow and PSCAD electrical dynamic models for customer and utility grid studies Help customers and new product introduction teams address the variety of North America grid requirements Develop strategy to respond to the latest grid integration requirements, ISO grid interconnection requirements, FERC orders or NERC reliability standards such as IEEE2800, ERCOT NOGRR245, NERC PRC standards, FERC order 2023, FERC order 901, and etc Develop strategy to respond to customers requests for GE legacy wind turbines grid compliance Help identify grid interconnection risks and mitigation approaches for wind farms Lead and identify opportunities to influence grid code requirements, and to improve GEVs products and documentation based on grid requirements and trends Support customers and Sales in answering questions and resolving grid concerns for wind farm proposals and orders Work closely with world class experts in GE Vernova Consulting Services and Design engineering to develop leading-edge grid compatible wind turbines Develop depth and expertise in wind turbine capabilities and their interaction with the electrical Balance of Plant, Distribution and Transmission systems Generate internal and external technical papers, guidance papers on GE wind turbines grid compatibility, performance and grid compliance Develop, improve and optimize Grid teams standard work packages and processes such as grid code analysis, grid requirement documents, grid review process, model development and validation process, and etc. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university or related field of study Minimum of 10 years of experience in Renewable Energy or related industries Desired Characteristics Knowledge of inverter-based resources grid interconnection requirements and major grid codes and standards. Work onsite at a GEV Wind office location Experience in the renewable energy industry Experience in wind turbine electrical systems Experience in controls or component-level power conversion equipment Experience applying grid code requirements for power plants or wind farms Experience in power system and grid stability studies by using PSS/E, PSLF, TSAT and PSCAD Experience providing technical support to sales, commercial and marketing functions Strong organizational skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple high priority task Demonstrated experiences in providing timely response to different customers under high-paced and high-pressure situations Demonstrated leadership and project management skills Strong communication skills with internal and external customers Experience in generating and delivering customer-facing technical documents & presentations Demonstrated willingness to take on team deliverables personally Strong influencing and team building skills Ability and willingness to accept challenges outside of technical expertise / comfort zone Global experience with proven ability to work with international teams Demonstrated experience in applying lean principles to increase productivity The base pay range for this position is $111,300 - $185,000 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidates experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for variable incentive compensation of 15% This posting is expected to close no earlier than September 3, 2024.
