Job Summary The Disaster RecoveryandBackup Coordinatoris responsible forplanning, implementing, and overseeing the organization's disaster recovery (DR) and backup strategies to ensure the integrity, availability, and security of critical data and systems. This role will ensureappropriate measuresare in place to recover systems and dataduringdisruptions, disasters, or data loss. The individual will work closely with IT teams, management, and external vendors to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies. This position is required to report to the SHI Somerset or SHI Austin office location as determined by SHI management. Responsibilities Include, but not limited to: Disaster Recovery Planning: Develop,maintain, and update disaster recovery plans (DRP) for all critical systems and data.Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses toidentifypotential threats and vulnerabilities Coordinate with IT teams to ensure DR plans are aligned with infrastructure and network configurations Implement and update disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime in a disaster Backup Strategy Management : Design and implement comprehensive backup and restoration strategies for all systems, data, and applications Ensure regular backups are scheduled, performed, andvalidatedfor accuracy and completeness Maintain backup retention policies in line with organizational and regulatory requirements.Exercisesbackup systems regularly to ensure data can be restoredpromptly and efficiently Exercises and Audits : Coordinate and execute regular disaster recovery and backupexercises, including failover and restoration procedure Ensureexercise results aredocumentedand issues are addressed to improve processes Maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations through regular audits and reporting Ensure backup and disaster recovery solutions areaudit-readyat all times Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate withcross-functionalteams toidentifycritical systems and applications for DR planning Work with vendors, external consultants, andthird-partyservice providers to enhance disaster recovery capabilities Communicate with senior management and key stakeholders to ensure alignment on recovery strategies Provide training and awareness sessions to staffregardingdisaster recovery and backup protocols Incident Response : Act as the primaryITpoint of contact during disaster recovery andbackup-relatedincidents Coordinate disaster recovery efforts to ensure minimal downtime and data loss Work closely with IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve backup failures and system outages Documentation and Reporting: Maintaincomprehensive documentation of disaster recovery and backup plans,exerciseresults, and recovery efforts Create detailed reports for managementoutlining the status of disaster recovery readiness and any gaps in current strategiestrackand report on recovery timeobjectives(RTOs) and recovery pointobjectives(RPOs) Qualifications Bachelors degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience 5 years of experience in disaster recovery, business continuity, backup management, or related IT roles Experience with backup and disaster recovery technologies (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Zerto, AWS Backup, Azure Backup, Veritas) Knowledge of industry standards and best practices (e.g., ISO 22301, NIST) Familiar with Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) best practices Required Skills Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is a plus Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is a plus Experience with the following: Disaster Recovery Planning Backup Management Risk Analysis and Business Impact Assessments Data Security and Integrity Compliance with Industry Standards Incident Response and Recovery Project Management Additional Information The estimated annual pay range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual.
