This unit frequently manages patients with encephalopathy, r/o kidney rejection, acute kidney injury, elevated creatinine, or patients that require esophageal tamponade. Transplant patients stay on unit until discharge and when stepped down from ICU status, they are staffed at 1:3 ratio.
