Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Staff Float Pool ICU Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, 12-hour Nights, 36 hours per week Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum 2 years (first-time traveler with required experience in Cerner or EPIC) License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in Cerner or EPIC for first-time travelers and at least 2 years of nursing experience Job Description: - Work in a facility with 492 beds, a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and as a Primary Stroke Center. - Upon orientation, will be assigned a home unit. - Potential Units: General Cardiac, CVICU, MICU, Neuro ICU, Surgical ICU - General Cardiac Unit: - Beds: 10 - Patient Types: STEMI, post-heart cath interventions, respiratory failure/ventilated, post-cardiac arrest, post-stroke care, renal failure, hypertensive emergency, sepsis, critical care - Skills Required: Vent care, hemodynamic monitoring, medication titrations, arterial line, IABP, Impella, EKOS, CRRT (PrismaFlex), chest tube, Swan Ganz catheter, FloTrac monitoring, titratable drip management, hypothermia protocol - CVICU: - Beds: 12 - Patient Types: Post-op CABG, valve, thoracotomies, V-A and V-V ECMO, post-cardiac arrest, post-heart cath, post-op vascular surgery, critical care - Skills Required: Swan Ganz catheters, arterial lines, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, CRRT, medication titration, IABP, Impella, EKOS, vent management, Tandem Life/Tandem Lung - MICU: - Beds: 14 - Patient Types: Acute respiratory failure, acute renal failure, acute liver failure, DKA, sepsis/septic shock, some post-surgical - Skills Required: ART lines, trach care, chest tubes, vasopressor usage, sedation usage, central lines - Neuro ICU: - Beds: 14 - Patient Types: CVA, SAH, SDH, IPH, seizures - Skills Required: Trach care/maintenance, art line, vent/ETT, EVD, ICP monitoring (can teach) - Surgical ICU: - Beds: 14 - Patient Types: Post-surgical, trauma, vascular, multisystem trauma, neuro trauma - Skills Required: Trach care, art line, chest tube, wound care, drip management (pressors and sedation); CRRT preferred - Patient Ratios: 1:2 - Support on Unit: CNA ratio 1:10, Charge nurse coverage per shift, Phlebotomy support, IV/VAT Team, Hospitalist support, telemetry monitoring tech - Technology/Equipment: EMR (Cerner), IV pumps (Plum 360), medication dispensing (Omnicell), monitors (Spacelabs) - Floating: Required for similar units or patient locations - Orientation: Includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on-unit time for new or 1 year-returning travelers - Scheduling: Weekend rotation every other weekend, possible back-to-back weekends (rare).
