Systems Administrator

A Systems Administrator is responsible for the secure configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of campus computer management systems, servers, and endpoints. This position also actively provides technical support for campus technology such as IT systems, desktop systems, and classroom mediation audio/visual equipment for faculty, staff, and student users.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design implement and maintain cloud desktop infrastructure, using Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Intune, and Jamf.

• Build, script, package and deploy application software, while ensuring license compliance.

• Install, manage, and maintain physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers and services.

• Managing User accounts, passwords, email, and cloud file storage.

• Install, manage, and maintain networked PC and Macintosh computers and related peripherals.

• Work with departments and administration to organize and facility the device lifecycle of computer hardware.

• Train and assist users with hardware and software related issues.

• Participate in classroom mediation evaluation and design, installation, and maintenance.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field (degrees in other fields will be considered with demonstration of relevant work experience) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent critical thinking and independent learning ability.

• Flexible self-starter, able to think and work independently while acting as a team player.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Exposure to working in a customer service, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

• Recent experience and proficiency in the installation, configuration, and management of networked Windows and Macintosh computers and related peripherals.

• Demonstrated experience in training and assisting network users.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.

• Demonstrated experience in the installation, configuration, and management of networked software applications.

• Working knowledge of operating system scripting languages such as CMD, PowerShell, and Bash.

• Proficient knowledge of computer platforms and software packages.

• Experience working with audio/visual equipment such as projectors and audio receivers is desired.

• Recent experience and proficiency in the installation and management of multiple servers (especially Windows and Linux) in an enterprise environment desired.
