What You'll Do:This position is responsible for educating borrowers and providing product recommendations. The Mortgage Loan Consultant works closely with clients to understand their financial goals, assess their eligibility for loans, and guide them through the pre-application inquiry and approval process.
Essential Functions:Serve as the primary initial contact to members with mortgage applications and/or underwriting questionsDrive new business by generating leads through various channels while nurturing member relationshipsAssist borrowers with the completion of mortgage applications through all available channelsPrequalify borrowers looking to buy homes and potentially finance with LGE; provide Prequalification and Preapproval Letters to Realtor(s) and Borrower(s)Actively participate in community and business development events, selling mortgage products and services to membersProactively follow-up with borrowers to encourage submission of incomplete applicationsCollect and post mortgage application fees to GL/borrower accountsDevelop basic understanding of all LGE Mortgage Center systemsManage application data exports from and imports into LGE Mortgage Center systemsBuild area knowledge and experience with all roles and activities within LGE Mortgage CenterDevelop, update, and deliver relevant introductory mortgage area training to retail and contact center staffUltimately become a subject matter expert in instruction and mortgage guidance to assist retail and contact center staff with mortgage-related questionsResearch, discover and help to implement new ways to reach our members, staying aware of industry trends and topicsChampion LGE products and services that deliver definitive value and meet our members' financial needsConnect with industry peers with the intent of discovering measurement of key performance metrics, benchmarking analytics, business insights, best practices, and other relevant topicsServe as primary point of contact for realtor partner program(s)Setup and assign submitted loan files as outlined in department proceduresAssist team members in gathering necessary loan documents from borrowersAssist team members by coordinating third party order outs: i.e. appraisal, title, flood cert, insurance, anti-fraud reports, etc.Assist with special projects within LGE Mortgage CenterGather and relay member feedback regarding the loan origination experience, systems and processesMaintain knowledge of credit union's mortgage products and servicesRefer relevant deposit, insurance, and/or investment products as appropriate to support the full financial health of LGE membersBecome familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and processes which have been established in order to meet compliance requirements of all applicable federal regulations. The regulations include but are not limited to TILA/RESPA (TRID), the Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Fair Housing Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. B, Reg. C, Reg. CC, Reg. Z and the Patriot ActWho you are:Required: High school diplomaRequired: 2+ yrs experience in mortgage loan origination or processing, including the responsibility for borrower contact and coordinationPreferred: 3+ yrs credit union, financial institution or mortgage broker experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsInnovative self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a contributor in a team environmentDetail-oriented with strong organizational and problem solving skills; ability to multi-task and reprioritize objectives as neededPossess ability to work under pressure and meet deadlinesMust demonstrate a professional and courteous manner while maintaining integrity and quality of service
