The
public relations director
is responsible for management of public relations programs which support ACVB’s business plan. Working closely with the department’s vice president, other ACVB departments, and media outlets, the director oversees efforts to ensure consistent messaging and a positive public image that reflect the vision and mission of ACVB across communication channels. (including, but not limited to the following) Team management
Oversee day-to-day activities of specialist and coordinator, ensuring quality work, deadline and budget adherence Implement and evaluate overarching annual ACVB communications plan, including proactive and reactive communications strategy, to increase visibility of Atlanta as one of the top travel destinations in the United States Manage goals dashboard and score placements Develop and implement PR plans and editorial calendar to promote brand awareness that positively impacts the city of Atlanta’s hospitality industry Mentor and develop PR staff members to ensure they are meeting departmental and individual annual goals Oversee HR-related tasks such as approving PTO, approving timesheets, approving expense reports, annual reviews, etc. Media relations
Build and maintain relationships with media while elevating the voice of ACVB Serve as lead for convention trade media Evaluate industry research to create data-driven story ideas Execute issues management and crisis communications procedures Internal/stakeholder communications
Provide PR support to convention clients Draft talking points and welcome remarks for speaking engagements Knowledge & Skills
7–10 years of experience in PR agency, corporate or consumer PR or related field; hospitality and travel industry experience is a plus Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or related field required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated success pitching national and international media Established national and regional media relationships and the skill set to develop new relationships Excellent interpersonal skills with experience managing multiple team members Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Detail oriented High level of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality Core Competencies

Work hours: Monday–Friday (moderate early mornings, late evenings and weekend work) Work environment: Standard, temperature-controlled office environment with moderate office noise level
During offsite meetings and events, work environment changes depending on location: hotel, restaurant, convention facilities, airplane and event venues
Work location: This is a full-time on-site position located in the Atlanta office four days a week, and one remote workday per week Physical requirements: Light lifting of 5–10 lbs.
