Job Summary:
We’re looking for a full-time (or part-time) veterinarian who is a compassionate, team player and strong communicator. We are a small animal hospital operating out of the Fairfax district.
Responsibilities:
Provide routine examinations
Diagnose illnesses and recommend treatment
Perform surgeries including dental, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (Optional)
Administer vaccinations
Perform spay and neuter surgeries (Optional)
Prescribe medication
Advise pet owners on preventative healthcare, nutrition, and overall pet well-being
Update client records
Qualifications:
Doctor of Veterinary degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
Active veterinary state license
Current DEA License preferred but not required
USDA Accreditation preferred but not required
Must be compassionate and sympathetic, and be able to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
Must have telephone and computer skills.
Previous work experience as a veterinarian
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical concepts in simple terms
Problem-solving skills
Availability to take evening, weekend, or on-call shifts when necessary
Patience and a love for animals
