Job Summary:

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist 1 performs MRI examinations. Operates specialized MRI equipment and software to obtain images of human anatomy for diagnostic and/or therapeutic determinations. Follows established departmental standard operating procedures to provide optimal imagery for diagnosis processes. Maintains responsibility of patient's safety, care and monitoring, and conducts themselves in a professional manner. Works with clinical students as required. Performs functions such as processing of data for image reconstruction, transfer to Picture Archiving Communications System, and quality control. Maintains and continues to increase knowledge and experience of routine MRI exams. Follows HIPAA and corporate compliance guidelines. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience:

Completion of an accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist program required. No experience required. Two years of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) experience is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to operate all MRI equipment, PACS, EPIC, and necessary software. Able to write legibly; assemble, troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment, and perform technical age- specific patient care activities as required; use computer and software programs necessary to the position. Use computer for essential job duties. Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with all age group patients (neonates, infants, pediatrics, adults, elderly), physicians and co-workers. Has the ability to communicate effectively about complex matters with others. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing and on the telephone; perform basic math functions essential to the position; think critically; organize and prioritize workload; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure, problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail; document legibly. Ability to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications:

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Radiography (R) or MRI registry (MR); or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) required. MRI credentials must be obtained within six months of hire date. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued through the American Heart Association required. Intravenous (IV) Certification required.
