Unit Overview:
4 PCU is a 48 bed Progressive Care Unit. Very fast paced and great opportunity for new graduates or experienced nurses. The critical care skills learned on our floor assist in great building blocks for a solid nursing foundation.
We give extraordinary care for patients with the following health needs but not limited to:
oTelemetry/Cardiac needs, various Cardiac Drip administration
oTelemetry Observation
oPre and post Heart Catheterization procedures
oTrauma Care with fractured ribs
oOrthopedic surgical services pre and post op
oChest tube care
oHigh Flow Oxygen Bipap and Avaps
oCIWA protocol (ETOH precautions)
oSeizures
oNIHSS Stroke Certified care
oMultiple surgical drains such as the Jackson Pratt pleur-X, pig-tail and Accordion drain systems)
oRenal Failure
oCongestive Heart Failure
oCOPD/Asthma

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team. Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:BSN preferred.Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
