Job Summary
Director Import and Export Operations will lead the strategic development and execution of key Import and Export Logistics Operations, reporting to the VP Inbound Logistics. This role oversees a cost structure ranging between $150 - $200 million and a corporate staff of 12-15 team member that coordinate around 55,000 shipping containers, several thousand of cross border trucks and up to 2 million kg of air freight shipments annually.
Job Description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the day-to-day operations related to Import and Export Transportation by developing and overseeing execution of plans that deliver continuous improvement in Expense as a % of Purchases and team member retention (Turnover and Team Member Engagement).
Negotiate and manage third party contracts governing import and domestic transportation across all import modes, international PO management, import visibility, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, container drayage and freight/payments
Develop and execute upon strategic partnerships with third party carriers (international and domestic) to ensure sufficient capacity in times of both ongoing and emergency operations to service internal customer needs in the safest, most efficient, and effective manner
Partners closely with Product Divisions, Inventory Management, Global Trade Compliance Teams, Distribution Operations and Transship Centers to ensure continuous flow of goods throughout Medline’s supply chain.
Execute response efforts to local, regional, and national emergencies.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education :
Bachelor’s Degree
Work Experience:
10+ Years of experience in Import or Export Transportation
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Demonstrated experience leading geographically dispersed teams
Demonstrated experience achieving results by leading leaders of multiple teams.
Previous Manager or Director experience required
End-to-end mindset that focused on optimal outcomes for the company
Exceptional communications skills to ensure clarity and alignment on priorities for the Import and Export Operations
*Position requires travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (domestically and internationally)
