Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: CUSTOM.POSTING.WAGE
The incumbent in this position is responsible for assessing, education and coordinating the care for the radiation oncology patients and family from admission through treatment and follow-up; promoting effective resource utilization; assuming a leadership role within the multidisciplinary team to achieve an optimal clinical outcome. In addition, the incumbent will facilitate workplace safety education and promote adherence to safety related policies and will be responsible for adverse event reporting.
Essential Job Functions
• Supports and practices the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and Billings Clinic Cancer Center.
• Facilitates patient scheduling for all medical and nursing services.
• Responsible for patient care and patient flow through treatment including:
• Orient all new patients to facility and operations
• Initial and weekly nursing assessments during treatment
• Accurate documentation in accordance to policy and oncology nursing practice standards
• Coordination of patient care through all other departments as needed
• Draw blood when needed
• Assist physician with exams as needed
• Provide patient and family education appropriate health information before, during and following radiation treatment according to population specific needs
• Responsible for quality assurance activities in patient care areas including but not limited to:
• Accurate medication inventory/count
• Chart reviews/audits for completeness in documentation, results reporting, consent forms, medications and other relevant documents/information
• Participates in the development or revision of policies and procedures and incorporates current research findings and evidence-based nursing practices.
• Demonstrates positive, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patients/residents, families, visitors, physicians, staff, and others.
• Provides community education and activities to promote prevention and early detection of cancer.
• Serves as a resource and role model in implementation of professional evidence-based nursing practice in the clinical setting.
• Identifies need and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
• Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance. Identifies and anticipates problems and safety issues and initiates appropriate action.
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
• Required - ASN
• Preferred – BSN (required within 4 years of hire)
Experience
• Five years clinical oncology experience
Certifications and Licenses
• Healthcare Provider CPR Certification, at hire
• Oncology certification preferred or ability to become certified, within 2 years of hire
