What You'll Do The Intermodal Operations Specialist is responsible for safely performing activities and completing processes that place customer freight for intermodal rail and yard movement according to client's need. This role is a cross-trained position with responsibilities including, but not limited to, yard/lift operations, securement, clerical administrative duties, load plan coordination, customer service, driver assistance, safety leader, terminal operating system knowledge, and remote operations in a fast-paced outdoor environment. ResponsibilitiesWork as a member of a team to coordinate and plan the daily workloadWork in a high-paced outdoor environment around moving equipment, vehicles, and trainsAttend or facilitate pre-shift job briefingsComplete pre and post shift cursory inspections of equipmentOperate various lift equipment: overhead cranes, side loaders, reach stackers to unload/load containers and trailers to/from railcars, stacks, ground or chassisLifting and lowering containers and trailers from elevated heights safely and efficientlyAscend and descend railcarsLifting interbox connectors (IBC)Ensure that all containers, trailers, and intermodal flatcars are properly securedOperate utility tractors (UTR) to move equipment to/from locations in the yard, stacks, and railcarsUtilize terminal operating system for yard inventoryIn/out-gate over the road (OTR) drivers using a technology deviceUtilize Microsoft office applications: Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPointUtilize various class one railroad terminal operating systems to load, operate, set up yard allocations, complete work orders, close out intermodal trains, and various other responsibilities.Report out key performance metrics to leadershipDevelop and sustain relationships with Class one railroads terminal personalRemote Operations: could include operating overhead gantry cranes from remote workstations, load plan multiple Class 1 terminals and trains, receiving customer service and driver assistance calls from multiple Class 1 railroadsWhat You'll NeedRequiredHigh School diploma or equivalent intermodal facility experienceValid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)Efficiency and time-management skillsAbility to operate or willingness to learn computer systems required for terminal dynamicsAbility to adjust to changing facility demands as requested by the client's requirements and commitments due to seasonal variances, disrupted work schedules, and industry needsAbility/Willing to work outside in all weather conditionsAbility to work in the presence of loud machinery Experience running and maneuvering hostler equipment in tight spacesExperience running heavy lift equipment such as: rubber tire gantry cranes, rail mounted gantry cranes, side loaders, and reach stackersPreferredCommercial driver's license (CDL) (not required) Willingness to work after hour call outs.Willingness to work any shiftPrior securement experience preferred (not required) Location This role is based out of Burbank, WA 99323This role requires employees to be on-site during shifts.
