Understanding of basic networking concepts (IP address, DNS, DHCP), Windows operating system, and basic cybersecurity principles. Job SummarySummary: The Helpdesk Technician: Performs a variety of duties supporting all departments within the facilities services at Texas A&M. The technician is responsible for answering queries on basic technical issues, and providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Helpdesk requests are entered via a web form, in-person, and by phone. All requests will be entered into the helpdesk ticketing software for tracking matters throughout the day. Their duties include responding to customers, determining the cause of computing issues, and fixing technical problems. They are also responsible for managing and troubleshooting relatively simple hardware, software, or network problems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email.Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.Assists in making decisions on all normal & minor repairs and reports major problems to the Systems Administrator.Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers.Walk the customer through the problem-solving process.Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel.Provide accurate information on IT products or services.Record events and problems and their resolution in logs.Follow-up and update customer status and information.Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate internal team.Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures.Issues include, but are not limited to:Workstation setup/equipment moveActive Directory - Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and computers.Basic DNS, DHCP troubleshootPrinting / Xerox liaisoniPhone setup and troubleshootingApple Business ManagerMerakiTime ClocksInstall / ReplacementTroubleshootingInstallComputer InventoryComputer Refresh - USMTComputer Imaging - WDS/MDTApplication TroubleshootingAdobeOffice SuiteAiM basic supportRemote Support using LogMeIn123Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent - 1 year related experience as a computer technician. Must have a valid driver's license. Ability to read, comprehend and transmit simple instructions in writing and orally. They should have a strong working knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software. Good problem-solving, analytical, and team-working skills are also important. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary as well as an openness to learning new technologiesEquipment, Machine, or Manual Skills Required: Physical Demands: Sits, stands, bends, kneels, climbs stairs, ladders. Some lifting of medium and/or heavy equipment and tools.Working Conditions: Some exposure to elevated degrees noise, dust and dirt.
