GENERAL SUMMARY

Henry Ford Fairlane seeks an experienced Contingent Registered Nurse (RN) for its Recovery Room - Breech department to support the Pre-Op / PACU areas,

The Pre-Op / PACU nurse:Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family.Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team.Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.Ideal candidates will have 2+ years previous Pre-Op / PACU experience as a RN and be ACLS certified.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The nurse manager describes the department as having a "family atmosphere". They are a close-knit, supportive group that will pitch in to help others when needed. Pre-Op can sometimes involve working in tandem with another nurse to expedite getting the patient ready for their procedures. There is a pretty courtyard onsite where many take their lunch breaks when the weather is nice.

SCHEDULE INFORMATION:

This is a contingent position with hours scheduled, Monday- Friday. There are no weekend, holiday or on call hours at this time. The nurse selected for this critical role will be trained to work in both the Pre-Op and PACU areas and be scheduled 2-3 days/wk. Pre-Op hours are typically 05:30-14:00; PACU hours are typically 07:00-15:30. Nurses will occasionally need to be flexible depending upon patient discharge timing. The schedule typically rotates weekly.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.2+ years previous Pre-Op / PACU experience required.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.ACLS certification preferred.
