Job Details:

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing company in the manufacturing industry, where you will play a vital role in our financial operations. This role will be responsible for the development and implementation of cost accounting systems and procedures, providing accurate and timely financial information to aid strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement cost accounting systems and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  2. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  3. Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost, and inventory, liability accounts for customers.
  4. Review costs for all manufacturing departments, noting unusual transactions or trends, and investigate as necessary.
  5. Coordinate with operations and manufacturing departments to develop annual labor and overhead rates, analyze actual costs, and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  6. Perform monthly closing activities related to cost accounting.
  7. Conduct regular physical inventories and monitors cycle count program.
  8. Prepare, analyze, and report monthly gross margin analysis by product, customer, and division.
  9. Participate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts and analyze variances from these plans.
  10. Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  11. Participate in new product development, establish cost estimates for materials and labor, and prepare cost of goods sold forecasts.
  12. Assist in the design and implementation of internal controls and procedures to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including forecasting, audit, regulation, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
  4. Experience with direct materials, direct labor, variance analysis, cost variance, cost analysis, inventory analysis, and plant accounting.
  5. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong capabilities in MS Excel.
  6. Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
  7. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, across all levels of the organization.
  8. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  9. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and make decisions within the established guidelines.
  10. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus.
