Tooling Technician

Perform maintenance on high pressure die cast tooling.Essential Functions:Assesses damage to the tooling and determines repairs needed.Ability to do machining operations on drill press and surface grinder.Ability to perform die changes.Ability to spot dies and coresFollow maintenance work order to determine what repairs are needed from production and quality.Ability to skillfully and artfully use hand-finishing tools.Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.Ability to assemble and disassemble tooling.Strictly adhere to all safety rules and regulations.Keep work and shop area clean and orderly at all times. 5S must be followed.Ability to use overhead cranes.Ability to work overtime on short notice, including weekends.Ability to have regular physical attendance per the regular shift schedule.Other duties as required by the Supervisor and/or other management personnel.Preferred Knowledge and Abilities:Helps other tooling technicians trouble shoot tooling problems.Ability to do machining operations on lathe.Ability to read blueprint and assembly drawings.Minimum requirements (training, experience, education):High School Diploma or Equivalent. Some technical training and one-year in machine shop environment preferred.Good mechanical skills. Can disassemble and reassemble mechanical equipment.Have some welding skills, exposure to mig, tig, and arc weldingPossess ability to use machines such as mills, lathes, drill press, and surface grinderPossess knowledge of basic blueprint reading and assembly drawingUse calipers and micrometers for dimensional inspectionsUse of oxygen acetylene torch
