Up to $170,000 - $200,000 base, plus 15% bonus targetOverview:We are seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Director to join our team in a key succession planning role, with a projected advancement to VP of Tax within 3-4 years. This is a high-impact position where you will work closely with the VP of Tax to drive tax strategy, ensure compliance, and support the company's growth trajectory. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in tax planning, compliance, and policy implementation, with a strong preference for Big 4 and CPA credentials.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Tax Planning and ComplianceLead and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s tax position while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and international tax laws.Oversee the preparation and review of tax filings, working closely with external advisors and internal teams.
Reporting and ForecastingPartner with the VP of Tax to develop and execute tax-related financial forecasts, reports, and analysis to support business objectives and financial planning.Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, evaluate their impact on the company, and recommend actionable solutions.
Risk Management and ControlsDesign and oversee internal tax controls and compliance policies to mitigate risk and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.Conduct regular audits and risk assessments, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.
Cross-functional Leadership and CollaborationCollaborate with finance, legal, and other departments to provide guidance on tax implications of business strategies and transactions.Serve as the go-to tax expert for the company, providing insights and support on mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring activities.
Team Development and Succession PlanningPlay an active role in mentoring and developing the tax team to support the company’s succession planning efforts.Prepare for the transition to VP of Tax through hands-on leadership, strategic input, and proactive alignment with executive goals.
Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred.Experience:
8+ years of relevant tax experience, ideally with a combination of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and corporate tax.Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international tax regulations; experience with tax provision (ASC 740) and compliance.Skills:
