Apply Locations: Wilmington, MA Time Type: Full time Posted on: Posted 3 Days Ago Job Requisition ID: R11769 A Day in Your Life at MKS: The Power Electronics Engineer is responsible for the development and release engineering of power electronics ranging from 3-30KW. The successful candidate will be responsible for new design and in parallel support the new product introduction engineering of power electronics used for plasma and reactive gas generation. The successful candidate will be able to operate independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly technical environment and multi-task competing priorities. The successful candidate will work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. In this role, you will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager. You Will Make an Impact By: Leading new power electronics related product development projects that involve a multi-discipline engineering team. Performing engineering analysis using simulation tools such as PSIM, Simulink/MATLAB, SPICE, Mathcad or other related tools. Developing, documenting, and executing DVT plans. Reporting on results and recommending appropriate engineering tradeoffs to optimize functional performance, reliability, and product cost. Creating and archiving design reports and other product documentation. Collaborating with embedded control engineers to integrate firmware with power electronics hardware components. Participating in cross-functional project teams to execute upon new product developments involving power electronics for plasma generation applications. Skills You Bring: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 10+ years’ experience in power electronics design. Advanced degree is preferred. Must have a record of project leadership from the conceptual stage to the product launch under schedule pressure. Must have demonstrated experience in the design of resonant inverters operating at 400KHz or above, boost or buck converters, or single/three phase power factor correction topologies in the 3-30kW power range. Familiar with series and parallel resonant topologies. Familiar with magnetics component design. Familiar with power converters/inverters that operate with soft switching. Familiar with PCB layout optimization in terms of stray leakage inductance and spacing requirements. Familiar with power conversion EMI/EMC filtering design. Familiar with design, development and optimization of firmware for power electronics digital control systems using DSP and MCU platforms. Demonstrated knowledge of reliability validation as it relates to power electronics. Familiar with regulatory compliance testing such as compliance related to EMC and safety. Must have solid analytical skills with the ability to simplify and present complicated systems. Familiar with semiconductor capital equipment preferred.
