Description

Major functions include serving as a Nurse Practitioner for the Cardiothoracic Surgical Service under the general supervision of the Medical Director, assisting in the operating room, coordinating the care of adult and pediatric cardiothoracic patients, and providing patient/family education to promote a smooth transition from admission to discharge. Provide a discharge plan, offering detailed discharge instructions. Major functions include collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, leading the rotational mentoring program, participating in clinical trials, and showing initiative in developing and implementing positive improvements for the allied health team. Take a leadership role in research, teaching, and publishing. The Nurse Practitioner for Cardiothoracic Surgery will report to the Medical Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery for clinical supervision and to the Operating Room Services Director, Assistant Director, or Designee for administrative supervision.Salary range: $84.82-121.13/hourlyQualifications

CA RN and CA NP License - requiredMSN/DNP in Adult Acute Care NP Specialty - requiredNational Certification in NP Specialty - requiredBLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association - requiredACLS certification from American Heart Association - requiredNP, State of CA NP Furnishing with Schedule II, Additional: NPI #, DEA #, Enrollment in PECOS, Enrollment in CURES - requiredMinimum 2 years’ experience preferred, including assisting in CT surgeries, EVH, and endo radial artery harvesting - preferredPrevious Cardiac OR NP experience - requiredKnowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology - requiredSkill in physical assessment and nursing care of cardiac surgery patients - requiredSkill in teaching - requiredKnowledge, skill, and ability to perform patient history and physical assessment - requiredSkill and ability in written and verbal communication - requiredKnowledge of interdisciplinary resources needed to coordinate patient care and facilitate referral - requiredSkill in removal of chest tubes, temporary pacing wires, and sutures/staples - requiredKnowledge and skill in wound care and treatment - requiredSkill in organizing and prioritizing - requiredAbility to read, interpret, apply, and follow physician orders, policies, procedures, and written/verbal instructions - requiredAbility to work varying shifts
