Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:The Business Analyst role is responsible for contributing to identifying, evaluating, and designing technology-based business solutions to help solve key business problems. They work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand business processes, workflows, data models, and other system artifacts. This role will help identify opportunities for process improvement and system enhancements and is responsible for documenting and reviewing technical specifications that define system requirements and articulate how systems will meet business goals. The incumbent is also responsible for helping apply system settings and options and will participate in the planning and execution of testing to ensure new or modified systems meet business requirements. The incumbent is knowledgeable in software development lifecycle methodologies and understands system testing and quality assurance principles. They are familiar with database management, SQL, web development technologies, and packaged software applications. They will support process modeling and requirements gathering and leverage this technical expertise to help develop and evaluate third-party solutions or technologies that support business process improvements. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that system documentation, such as process diagrams, data dictionaries, user manuals, and training materials, are accurate and up-to-date. They will participate in monitoring system metrics such as uptime, response times, and error rates to drive system optimization and performance improvements.Responsibilities

WHAT THE ROLE WILL DO:

Analyze and document business processes, workflows, data models, and other artifacts to assist in capturing the current and future states of business systemsResearch and propose approaches to develop functional and technical specifications for new or modified systems, processes, and procedures to meet business requirementsWork closely with software developers, data analysts, and testers to ensure new systems or changes to existing systems meet the defined business requirements, are delivered timely, and within budgetHelp apply system settings and options to meet business goals supporting the planning and execution of system testingConduct research on third-party solutions or technologies and gather insights related to their features, benefits, and drawbacks, and present findings to senior team membersSupport team in updating and maintaining system documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness, such as process diagrams, data dictionaries, user manuals, and training materialsAnalyze system metrics, such as uptime, response times, and error rates, to recommend system optimization and performance improvementsContinuously monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to support the team with identifying potential opportunities to improve existing business systems and processesSupport and coordinate training sessions for end-users, as neededThis position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H1-B visa.

This position has a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and the option for working remotely two days.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. TheCompany therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.

Qualifications

Education

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Information Systems, or in lieu of a degree, at least 3 years of experience in the field of business systems analysis or IT (work experience or a combination of education and work experience in the field of business systems analysis or IT)

Preferred

Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)

Knowledge & Experience

2-4 years of experience in business systems analysis and design with a deep understanding of software development methodologiesKnowledge of business and technical operations, workflows, and proceduresStrong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skillsStrong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders and vice versaExperience utilizing tools, techniques, and leading practices related to data analysis, coding, and automationKnowledge of database structures and data management principlesFamiliar with Retail IT systems including point-of-sale, merchandise management, and order managementExperience with data analysis, ETL, or data migrations a plusFamiliarity with Atlassian tools a plusTechnical Skills
