This will include providing guidance and support of Tektronix legal matters across multiple business functions, including primarily commercial related contracts, antitrust guidance, product compliance, commercial litigation or disputes, regulatory topics and otherwise as needed. In addition to providing excellent legal expertise, the role requires a proactive and solution-oriented mentality to legal matters and a proven ability to work collaboratively across the organization. Ideal candidates for this role will have in-house experience in a variety of legal topics with a focus on commercial, passion for growth, and demonstrated experience driving improvements that benefit the company! The position reports directly to Tektronix’s VP Global Legal & General Counsel.ResponsibilitiesOversee all legal commercial work in Americas and APAC, including leading a small, successful commercial contracts teamOversee and/or draft, negotiate and advise on a wide range of complex commercial contracts and transactions including product sales and services, software, SaaS and technology licenses, consulting, bids and tenders, distributor, partnership, supplier, and other business contractsProvide practical timely counsel and proactive advice to internal partners on a variety of legal matters, including sales and marketing, services, antitrust guidance, product compliance, commercial disputes, and others as needed to minimize riskProvide legal advice to assist internal clients in meeting the company strategic goalsDevelop and deliver legal training for business partners to advance business needs and ensure proper functioning and transparency of contractual and other processes.Collaborate with other members of the global Legal and Compliance teams to ensure a consistent global and organization approach to legal issuesContribute to process improvement projects, implementation of new policies and procedures, and innovative ways to provide efficient and effective legal servicesContribute to successful development and implementation of Legal team initiativesMonitor legal and regulatory developments, and anticipate and report on risks and opportunities, developing strategies to address, as appropriateSupervise external counsel when needed and manage budget appropriatelyManage other legal matters or undertake special projects as requested by the VP/GCAssist with M&A due diligence and integration as neededCompetencies/Personal TraitsUnquestionable integrity and excellent judgmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to communicate complicated information in an understandable way, as well as excellent drafting skillsDemonstrated ability to spot issues and provide solutions or paths to resolution; a perceptive and inquisitive problem solverProven leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and manage attorneys and staffStrong project management and organizational skills, to include prioritizing multiple complex matters and conflicting demands in a fast-paced and complex environmentSelf-motivated with ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with legal colleagues and business teams, while exercising independent judgment in determining when supervisory input is necessaryProactive attitude and adaptability with an internal and external customer focus mindsetAbility to collaborate across all functions (including Finance, HR, Operations, and Commercial and Service teams), cultures, and organizational hierarchyAbility to influence and build followership at all levelsEducation And Experience RequiredQualified lawyer with JD from an accredited universityMinimum of 12-15 years substantive experience, including law firm and in-houseExtensive progressive experience negotiating commercial contracts and managing a commercial contract program, preferably at technology companyDemonstrated success managing others as a people leaderExperience with contract lifecycle management tools preferredExperience with government agencies and contracting rules preferredWorking knowledge of applicable laws and regulationsExperience and comfort working in a matrixed organization across functionsThis position is also eligible for bonus and equity as part of the total compensation package.
