ADL seeks a proven philanthropic leader with a successful track record of fundraising, and experience building a culture of philanthropy for its Senior Vice President, Development (SVP).
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Successful candidates blend fundraising prowess, leadership effectiveness and creative thinking; have experience directly leading teams that raise over $100M annually; the ability to assess and evaluate resources; and the strategic vision to plan for transformational growth. The SVP, Development is a key member of ADL’s Senior Leadership Team and a key manager in ADL’s Engagement vertical. Directly supervising the VP Philanthropic Services and the VP Philanthropic Engagement, the SVP will lead the implementation of a new philanthropic plan and structure for ADL. Reporting to the EVP, Chief Engagement Officer and partnering with the SVP, External Affairs and VP, Leadership, the SVP will plan, manage and execute a comprehensive, diversified and strategic advancement and communications effort. The SVP, Development will promote a culture of high performance for the ADL fundraising team and champion a culture of philanthropy throughout a dynamic organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recommend strategic direction and provide leadership for the organizational development strategy and implementation including technology, dashboarding, diversification and donor experience
Foster a high-performance culture with clear, meaningful metrics and processes to promote revenue production
In collaboration with the external affairs and leadership team, develop and execute a sophisticated coordinated advancement strategy for ADL
Provide leadership and management in building, retaining, motivating and developing a high performance fundraising team
Create and manage cross-function communication to ensure that all elements of development are strategically positioned to support future organizational growth
Craft strategy and execute the transformational giving process including donor engagement, donor recognition and stewardship
In partnership with the People & Culture department, develop ways for ADL to better support and develop employees’ technical and leadership skills
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
10+ years progressive leadership experience with fund development in organizations raising $100+ million
Successful track record in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors and potential donors
Experience overseeing and developing a multi-layer team of fundraisers
Ability to manage a diverse range of activities, setting priorities and supporting the successful achievement of goals
Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to utilize qualitative and quantitative data, stakeholder feedback and industry trends to inform decision making and long-term planning
Persuasive communication skills, including both excellent written and oral communication skills
Personal commitment to fighting antisemitism and all forms of hate
