Oncology (4 positions) ,
Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (1 position) , and
Investigational Drug Services (1 position) . Each position is a twelve-month position, with a starting date of July 1st, 2025.All residency positions offer opportunities in committee and departmental meetings, research and publication opportunities, educational and precepting experiences. Residents also are active in professional organizations as part of their residency experience. Residents are also adjunct faculty at the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Roswell Park's residency prepares future pharmacy leaders through disease-specific rotations designed to allow them to function as an integrated, independent, and competent member of a multidisciplinary team. Our residents work directly with physicians who are world-renowned in their specialties. Graduates of our program possess the skills to obtain board certification in oncology pharmacy and for clinical, academic, and leadership roles in pharmacy.Rotations include but are not limited to: Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma, Transplant & Cellular Therapy, Breast Medicine, GI malignancy, Gynecology Malignancy, Genitourinary, Investigational Drug Services, Management, Melanoma & Sarcoma, and Thoracic Medicine. In addition, there are several longitudinal rotations throughout the year. Electives include: Critical Care, Infectious Disease, Pain/Palliative Care, Inpatient Solid Tumor, Pediatrics, and advanced versions of required rotations. The residency year is tailored to residents' goals and interests.PGY-2 IDS Residency: 1 PositionIDS Residency Purpose statement:The purpose of the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s PGY-2 Investigational Drug Service Residency is to develop pharmacist leaders with the necessary expertise to design and implement clinical trials, ensure data integrity, manage the care of research subjects, and maintain pharmacy systems consistent with best practices in IDS.About our PGY-2 Investigational Drug Service Program:The Roswell Park PGY-2 Investigational Drug Service Residency Program builds upon the foundations of pharmacy practice from residents' previous experiences through their Pharm.D. education and their PGY-1 residency. With that in mind, our program is designed to advance the knowledge and capabilities of pharmacists to become leaders within the ever-changing and complex research operation. Our residents will work directly with world-renowned clinical research physicians, with a strong focus on early phase clinical trials. Graduates of our program will gain expertise in the regulatory requirements that govern clinical research, become adept in the clinical care of research subjects, and demonstrate skill in the processes required to support clinical research - from opening clinical trials, to pharmacy operations and clinical care of research subjects, through trial closure.Core Rotations:The activities associated with clinical research can fluctuate in intensity depending on several variables, including resident interest and other scheduling considerations. As such, most of the rotations will be longitudinal in nature to allow you to get a richer set of experiences.Introductory blocks are completed during the first 12 weeks, including Orientation/Introduction to Investigational Drug Service (4 weeks), Protocol Management Orientation (4 weeks), Early Phase Clinical Trials Clinical Support Orientation (2 weeks), and Leukemia Clinical Trials Clinical Support Orientation (2 weeks). After the completion of the introductory blocks, the resident’s day-to-day schedule will be created every 2 weeks. The preceptors declare what meetings (SIVs, IRB, etc.) are scheduled for the next 2 weeks, and a schedule is established such that the resident will spend 1 day/week staffing (with the operations rotation), 1 day/week in the Early Phase Clinical Trials Clinic, and an average of 1 day/week with Protocol Management. The remaining time will be filled out with longitudinal activities relating to Protocol Development, ACTG Informatics, Leukemia Clinical Trial Clinical Support, Medication Safety, as well as time to prepare for IRB meetings, preceptorship, and for research. This schedule is created by the RPD (or designee) in conjunction with the resident such that expectations are established, but not overwhelming. Note that not every learning experience will be active during every schedule. For example, IRB meetings are once a month. When a meeting is scheduled, time will be allotted for preparation and attendance. If there is no meeting, there will be no activities for that learning experience during that 2 week block.
