POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for maintaining beach & pool safety on Harvest Caye (HC) or all guests. Also responsible for promoting and selling the various Island activities to guests; coordinating tour dispatches and assisting in various clerical duties when required.
In order to provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
DIMENSIONS
Must be able to provide quality customer service to cruise guests during ship operation days. Ships calling on the island may have up to 4000 cruise guests.Work in a team environment encompassing other Island Lifeguard team members.NATURE AND SCOPE
The position will report directly to the Lifeguard Supervisor. The incumbent ensures that the assigned administrative duties are completed in a timely manner. Position requires ability to adjust to changing supervisor directions at a moments' notice, depending upon the needs of the supervisor or other management.
Regularly works under outdoor weather conditions and is routinely exposed to the sun, and extreme heat or cold.
Works on uneven and/or slippery or sandy surfaces.
Work in open water conditions.
The incumbent must be able to work in a multi-cultural environment; also, must be able to adjust to changes in assignments, work areas and schedules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The primary function during ship operation days will be to maintain beach & Pool safety.Recognize and respond appropriately and calmly to emergencies.Have knowledge of proper use of communication systems such as VHF radios, whistles, and flags.Ability to use rescue equipment such as rescue jet-ski, rescue surfboard and kayak.Provide excellent customer service to all guests by greeting, answering questions, and providing information concerning excursions and activities on the island.Repair and maintain beach & Pool Island equipment such as but not limited to mats, floats, snorkeling gear, wave runner dock, lifeguard stands.Participate in the daily upkeep of the island and grounds.Conduct inventories of all island Beach & Pool items on a regular basis.Follow proper procedures for cleaning and disinfecting snorkeling equipment.Participate in regular trainings/drills.Enforce all aquatic/island company policies.Communicate clearly and directly with employees and guests.Assist in securing island equipment during inclement weather.Represent the image of the company and perform all activities in an enthusiastic and professional manner.Perform other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SOP's and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.Recognize and respond appropriately in emergencies.QUALIFICATIONS
2 years in resort hospitality experience or similar.First Aid & CPR certification.Intermediate-level skills using Microsoft Word and ExcelIntermediate to advance verbal and written level of English is required.EDUCATION
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalentLifeguard CertificationBasic First Aid/CPR (Minimum PADI Emergency First Responder, American Red Cross or equivalent)ATTRIBUTES
