Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift, 3x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15) Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years, prefer PCU experience. Strong Med Surg Cardiac Tele RNs without PCU experience will be considered. First-timers accepted. License: Valid state license required, pending license not accepted. Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Must-Have: - Previous Charge Experience preferred - Experience with EPIC charting system - Willingness to float within service line and to affiliate facilities as needed - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and use Rapid Response Teams Job Description: - This position involves working in a mixed unit consisting of PCU, Med Surg/Tele, and Med Surg patients. - Nurse will be working with adult and geriatric patients and handling a range of diagnoses including medical, surgical, respiratory, cardiac, endocrine, sepsis, stroke, COPD, CHF, renal, mental health issues, substance abuse, and more. - Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, pre/post cardiac catheterization care, and titration of insulin drips. - IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care/management are key components of the role. - Special procedures may involve mixed intermediate care and Med Surg patients with potential float to ICU at PCU level of care. - Must manage medications, including heparin protocols and cardiac drips, with no titration of vasoactive drips. - Non-invasive airway management and computerized charting are required skills. - Clinician will need to float to different units and facilities as required to meet staffing needs. - Strong communication skills are essential to manage the various work settings which include Cardiac Telemetry, MS/Tele, and Telemetry units. - The position requires working every other weekend and may involve on-call duties as needed. - COVID-19 and flu vaccinations are required, with medical/religious exemptions only. - Orientation includes 4 hours training, with additional module completions required prior to start. Note: This position is not open to local travelers within a 50-mile radius. Candidates should have flexibility for changes in their schedule with a three-week notice to balance the schedule.
