Account Director for Meeting and Event Strategy
who will support a wide range of webinars and other virtual meetings and events, as well as larger, in-person conferences and events, including large exhibit hall style meetings. This individual will also manage Palladian’s events team and set the strategy for this line of business, to include our approach to delivering meeting and event capabilities, as well as business development activities related to growing the events side of the business.Directors manage more complex work, projects and teams, from the conceptual phase to execution and completion; have demonstrated specialized knowledge of their discipline (e.g., strategic communications, marketing, PR, digital strategy); design integrated solutions; and manage and develop talent. Client-facing directors manage key accounts with little supervision and communicate daily with team regarding clients’ needs. Responsibilities
Manage complex projects from the conceptual phase to execution and completion ensuring quality work product.Create momentum within the team to deliver high quality work and identify opportunities to drive growth.Think one step ahead beyond the short term, identifying potential opportunities and next steps needed, flagging risks, and coming up with solutions for how the team can fulfil or overcome them.Take responsibility for larger projects and feels accountable for both the work and the process. Leads a team of people on these, working in partnership with the PM team to ensure that the team delivers as required.Support the Jr account team members to help them learn and grow and giving them an opportunity to step up and lead elements of the projects with you.Prioritize and delegate tasks.Model and encourage company values.Influence decisions and drive change.Design and implement process improvement efforts in strategic and innovative ways.Participate in and impact strategy development.Influence actions and facilitate change.Have knowledge of external best practices and apply them internally.Help drive organic growth, and significantly contribute to new business.Qualifications
Experience managing complex project teams.Proven track record of developing and maintaining strong client relationships.Ability to manage talent and team development.Experience managing multiple vendors and events simultaneously.Experience with online event registration and hosting tools and platforms.Proven ability to create budgets for large-scale government events, taking into consideration the relevant legal limitations, other direct costs, travel expenses, honoraria, materials, printing, shipping, labor, and related line items.Expertise in owning the technical and business portions of federal proposals related to conferences and events, as part of standalone task orders or as part of a team supporting tasks within larger sets of requirements.Preferred Qualifications
Certified Government Meeting Planner (CGMP) certification from the Society for Government Meeting Professionals.Warehousing management experience.Experience with National Institutes of Health clients; other Department of Health and Human Services or federal clients is acceptable.Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Public Health, or related field.8+ years of experience in communications;
exceptional candidates with 10+ years of experience may be considered at the VP level.A Ph.D. may be substituted for 3 years of required experience with a Master’s Degree or 4 years with a Bachelor’s Degree.Logistical Requirements
At this time, we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship.Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.Candidates must be located in the D.C. area and available for occasional travel to client events, including meetings with NIH clients in the Bethesda, MD area.Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager.Role will require up to one day in the office at Palladian’s Silver Spring headquarters on Wednesdays for collaboration day. Otherwise, remote work is acceptable.In addition to Palladian’s standard background process this role may require a government badge/clearance.
