We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is not only passionate about crunching numbers but also thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers, and performing general bookkeeping. Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of GAAP, FASB, FERPA, OMB, and 990 regulations and has experience with foundation accounting, non-profit accounting, and ADP and Jenzabar software. CPA certification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and conduct monthly and yearly G/L reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in adherence to our accounting standards and principles.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to complete annual audits.
  • Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management.
  • Review and improve accounting and financial procedures and policies to ensure they are in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in budgeting processes.
  • Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers.
  • Participate in quarterly and annual audits.
  • Work closely with the project management team to analyze budgets, prepare project cost reports, and provide financial advice.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master’s degree or professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA) is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB, FERPA, OMB, and 990 regulations.
  • Proficiency in foundation accounting, non-profit accounting, and ADP and Jenzabar software.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
