The Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's public cloud infrastructure and on-premises systems. This role ensures the stability, security, and optimal performance of IT infrastructure. The Infrastructure Administrator will handle system administration, infrastructure management, security protocols, storage solutions, backup and recovery processes, capacity and resource planning, and network troubleshooting. Effective documentation, collaboration, and communication are critical for success in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Public Cloud Management:Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.Monitor cloud environments for performance, security, and cost efficiency.Implement cloud security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.Virtualization:Administer and maintain virtualized environments using technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.Optimize virtual machine performance and resource allocation.Perform regular updates and patches to virtualization software.Kubernetes:Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters to support containerized applications.Monitor cluster health, performance, and security.Automate deployment and scaling of applications using Kubernetes.System Administration:Manage and maintain servers, both physical and virtual, ensuring high availability and performance.Perform routine system updates, patches, and configurations.Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in a timely manner.Infrastructure Management:Oversee the overall health and performance of the IT infrastructure.Implement infrastructure improvements and upgrades.Ensure infrastructure is scalable and can support business growth.Storage Management:Manage and maintain storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage.Monitor storage performance and capacity, ensuring data integrity and availability.Implement storage best practices and disaster recovery solutions.Backup and Recovery:Develop and maintain backup and recovery plans to protect data and systems.Perform regular backups and test recovery procedures.Ensure compliance with data retention policies.Capacity and Resource Planning:Monitor and analyze infrastructure capacity and resource utilization.Plan and implement capacity upgrades to meet future demand.Optimize resource allocation to ensure efficient use of infrastructure.Documentation:Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.Create and maintain technical manuals and guides for internal use.Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to support their infrastructure needs.Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide status updates.Participate in team meetings, project planning, and coordination activities.PLEASE NOTE: This is not an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities and requirements of the position described above. Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.2+ years of experience in infrastructure administration or a similar role.Strong knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Proficiency in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.Solid understanding of system administration, including Linux and Windows servers.Familiarity with storage management solutions and best practices.Experience in backup and recovery planning and execution.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VMware Certified Professional, CKA) are a plus.Quality Standards

Physical Demands

This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching with hands and arms, using hands and fingers, handling, or feeling, speaking, listening, and high-level cognitive thinking. Also, must be able to lift up to 90 pounds occasionally. The position requires the ability to travel (~50% of time), drive a vehicle, and utilize other forms of transportation.

Working Environment

The position is remote. The employee will be expected to travel to data centers, conferences, workshops, etc. This position requires domestic / international travel up to 50%.
