Citi Treasury manages the balance sheet, capital, and liquidity of Citigroup; manages and provides corporate oversight of liquidity, interest rate and currency translation risks; and supports businesses with risk identification/management, product innovation and funding strategy.
USPB & Wealth Business Treasury focuses on asset/liability management, balance sheet planning, liquidity/capital resource monitoring & optimization, and interest rate and liquidity risk management for USPB & Wealth. This unit serves as the principal point of contact into Treasury for the USPB & Wealth business and finance teams, ensuring that balance sheet priorities are taken into account in business decision-making processes. Additionally, this function works with the segment Finance teams in implementing balance sheet allocation, optimization, and costing processes. Business Treasury also has first line responsibility for Interest Rate Risk (IRR) management of the consumer business segments.
While focused on NAM, the USPB & Wealth Treasury team works with the deposit and lending businesses globally within USPB & Wealth. Individual business units include US Personal Banking (consisting of Branded Cards, Retail Banking, Mortgages, and Retail Services) and Wealth Management (including Private Bank, Wealth at Work, and Citigold).
Job Description
This is a senior analyst role in the USPB & Wealth Business Treasury Capital and Liquidity Resource Advisory (CLRA) team, with a primary responsibility of supporting financial resource initiatives and monitoring. The candidate is expected to have or develop subject matter expertise in capital, risk weighted assets, and other financial resources, and to leverage that expertise to support efficient resource management and strategic decisioning. The form of work may shift between analytics, monitoring, advisory, advocacy, or communications/learning depending on the most relevant business need at the time. However, there will be core recurring responsibilities such as maintaining capital returns governance, advising on capital and returns of investment initiatives, and resource monitoring. This is an evolving division of USPB & Wealth Business Treasury, and the candidate will have an opportunity to help guide new processes and objectives.
Responsibilities
Primary areas of focus and responsibilities include:
Supporting CLRA initiatives, such as:
Maintaining USPB & Wealth RoTCE framework documentation and communications
Review/challenge of business capital attribution methodologies
Review/challenge of financial resource forecasts
Evaluating business investment initiative capital attribution and returns
Capital attribution methodology knowledge sharing and business advisory
Monitoring business financial resources (e.g., risk weighted assets and GSIB score) to support management within required thresholds
Financial resource analytical support for Treasury, Business and Finance stakeholders
Coordination with Treasury, Business and Finance partners to promote transparent communication and awareness of financial resource management topics
Maintaining awareness of regulatory changes and implications for capital and liquidity metrics that may impact USPB and Wealth
Driving thought leadership on financial resource strategy with ad hoc projects / analytics
Production of executive-level presentations
Qualification/Skills
The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of Treasury and consumer bank balance sheet management. Key qualifications include:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Treasury, Finance, Investment Banking, or other relevant role
Hands-on experience in forecasting, stress testing, capital management, and/or economic analysis is preferred
Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving capacity within an unstructured and dynamic environment
Product and/or project management experience, including the ability to translate analytical frameworks into business requirements
Demonstrated ability to concisely communicate objectives, observations and relevance of findings in written, visual and verbal form
Comfortable explaining findings, project plans and project status to senior management
Proven leadership skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables at once
Experience with Citi’s financial systems and financial data infrastructure is a plus
Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or other relevant degree
