In addition to their day-to-day tasks, interns participate in professional development workshops, senior leadership Q&A's, volunteer initiatives, networking/social events, and more Specialty Markets Data Analyst Intern As a Summer Intern, you will support our Advanced Markets function and work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to complete tasks critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. We are here to help you both identify and continue to develop your future career goals and passions. Job responsibilities include: Conducting corporate and bank market analysis involving BOLI, COLI, and estate life insurance products, all while ensuring the validation of their market databases. Completing analysis, documenting requests, and other facets of current programs, and packaging it up for key stakeholders. Identifying opportunities for automation within data capturing, analysis, and reporting using visualization tools. Bring Your Best What this role needs. Minimum qualifications Incoming senior (Expected to graduate in May 2026) Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Finance, Business or related field from an accredited college or university Experience using SQL, Power BI, and/or Excel functions to analyze data. Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following: Data Visualization, Probability or Statistics, Finance Employer immigration sponsorship is not available for this role. Preferred skills and Proficiencies Experience in validating data for accuracy and completeness, utilizing Excel for cross-checking and troubleshooting to ensure data integrity. Skilled at engaging in and modeling adventurous, consultative, and constructive dialogue; confident in offering new and potentially challenging ideas to further conversation and stimulate critical thinking. Knowledge of Excel formulas and functions, such as VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, PivotTables, and other analytical tools to manipulate and analyze data effectively. Proficiency in data visualization techniques, including the use of Excel charts and graphs to present complex data in an understandable and visually appealing manner. Effective oral and written communication skills Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability. High degree of self-motivation, passion, and a strive to learn.
