Job Description
Oversee all aspects of the company's tax strategy, planning, compliance, and reporting. This key leadership role will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and regulatory authorities to ensure tax compliance and optimize the company's tax position.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with the company's financial goals and objectives
Manage tax planning initiatives to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Oversee the preparation and filing of all tax returns, including federal, state, international taxes and indirect taxes
Prepare the annual patronage dividend calculation in collaboration with senior management and external tax advisors
Conduct tax research and stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for tax optimization
Lead tax audits and inquiries, working with external auditors and legal counsel as needed
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to provide tax guidance and support for business initiatives
Evaluate and implement tax-efficient structures for business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
Develop and maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors, government agencies, and other stakeholders
Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and board of directors regarding tax matters, risks, and opportunities
Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback (this refers to managing the relationship with outside consultants who provide compliance and consulting services to DFA in the various tax areas)

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; advanced degree (e.g., Master of Taxation, CPA, or JD) preferred
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in tax planning, compliance, and strategy, preferably in a corporate environment or public accounting firm
Experience leading tax initiatives for complex organizations, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements
Strong knowledge of Subchapter T – Cooperatives and Their Patrons
Able to lead tax initiatives for complex organizations, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders
Proficiency in tax software and MS Office Suite, with the ability to leverage technology for tax planning and analysis
Strong leadership abilities, including experience managing and developing a team of tax professionals
