Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a MDS Tech III, located at the Bay City Factory.
Job Summary:
The MDS Tech III working at Michigan Sugar's Bay City Factory in Molasses Desugarization is responsible for off-loading incoming molasses and directing it to the appropriate tank. Additional responsibilities will be cleaning and washing factory Desugarization building, molasses unloading building and tank farm pumphouses.
MDS Tech III will be responsible for testing molasses limesalts and other parameters as required, including brix and pH. Additionally, MDS Tech III will be responsible for daily cleaning and preventative maintenance of hoses, fittings and valves for safety, and maintaining organization within the work being performed while working in the molasses off-loading building. The MDS Technician III is responsible for calling the MDS Technician I for support with maintenance and repairs outside of this role to repair equipment.
Additional responsibilities include: assisting maintenance personnel in MDS by pulling and cleaning filter baskets, re-clothing putsch filters, cutting gaskets, replace hose fittings, cleaning and inspecting heat exchanger plates.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ability to work safely and follow all PPE requirementsAssisting MDS Technician I's and II's as neededAssisting maintenance personnel when needed with changing out pumps etc.Offloading molasses railcars by connecting steam hoses to the railcars and molasses pump hosesLoading railcars with secondary molasses, particularly during extract/juice campaignOccasional loading and/or assisting with co-productsAssisting in removing and reinstallation of valves to unplug pipes or hosesTroubleshoot problems to improve railcar off loading to meet MDS operational goalsAdditional responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, MDS Tech I or MDS Tech IIPosition Qualifications:
Mechanical aptitudeComputer proficiency. Previous experience with computers preferred.Lab or data entry experience preferred.Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.Key Competencies:
