Sargent College's Department of Physical Therapy offers a range of academic professional programs with a focus on preparing students for careers in health care. Reporting to the Department Chair, the department manager will work to ensure the efficient management and operational excellence of the academic unit and its dynamic community of faculty, researchers, and students. Working in collaboration with faculty Program Directors, core responsibilities include:Budget oversight and managementProcessing paymentsProcurementEvent planningSupervision of department administrative staff and student employeesAssistance with faculty academic appointments, promotions, tenure applications, recruitments, and search processesStudent program admissions supportData collection, record management and preparation of accreditation and department annual reports

Required Skills

Basic Requirements:Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experienceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsEssential skills also include organization, time management, strong judgment, problem solving, exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-taskEffective leadership of department operations

Professional Competencies:A collaborative work approach with the ability to handle confidential materials with discretionAbility to create positive relationships and work with colleagues, faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgroundsExcellent problem solving and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:Master's DegreePrevious managerial or supervisory experienceExperience managing a budgetAbility to work independently and as part of a team exercising initiative and judgmentFacility with data analysis. Comfort using quality data to help guide decision-makingA work approach which strives for continuous improvement, creativity, flexibility, and curiosityA willingness to explore, understand, and appreciate diverse perspectives
