As we work together to support this world-class academic medical center and the hospital’s mission of a healthier world, we pride ourselves on being a passionate, mission-driven, community-minded organization supporting the philanthropic goals of the hospital.Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Donor Relations, the Director of Donor Relations (Recognition) manages a comprehensive donor gift agreement and recognition program in accordance with the Development Office’s strategic fundraising goals. The Director oversees a team of professionals responsible for key aspects of the donor experience, including the creation and timely delivery of gift agreements, custom acknowledgments, leadership communications, and condolence protocols to acknowledge the passing of key donors and volunteers. Lead all aspects of the creation, negotiation, and execution of timely and compliant gift agreements documenting the intentions of donors who give $100,000 and above.Give counsel to Development and hospital colleagues on donor-named fund inquiries, including donor intent.Ensure appropriate pricing and naming guidance for funding opportunities and develop tools that help fundraisers leverage these opportunities for donor proposals.
Donor Correspondence and Recognition
Lead all aspects of the custom acknowledgment processes for gifts of $50,000 and above.Oversee stewardship communications for donors during significant philanthropic and life events.Supervise the Associate Director (Acknowledgments) in creating event follow-up correspondence.
Donor Recognition Societies
Lead outreach strategy and membership in major giving recognition societies.Participate in the planning and execution of recognition events for members of these societies.
Management and Administration
Create and implement an integrated program to thank and recognize major and principal gift donors.Lead a team of two, the Associate Director (Acknowledgments) and Assistant Director (Gift Agreements).Ensure consistent coding and tracking of deliverables in CRM and Workfront databases.
QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree required, with minimum 7-9 years of experience in development stewardship and donor relations. Management experience required.Strong project management skills and commitment to customer service and quality standards.Demonstrated ability to develop and engage supervisees and build productive working relationships.Experience with healthcare preferred.Proven ability to meet delivery dates, and handle confidential information with discretion.Advanced proficiency in CRM and MS Office product suite.SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under a deadline.Excellent attention to detail and follow-through skills.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.Aptitude to resolve complex problems and use judgment within defined practices and procedures.Ability to build professional and collaborative relationships.Shows good judgment, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive information.Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.EEO StatementBrigham and Women’s Hospital is an Affirmative Action Employer.
