About this roleWe are looking for a professional with a background in markets, analytics, and technology to join BlackRock's Financial Markets Advisory (FMA) to assist clients with some of their most sophisticated balance sheet challenges. Candidates will develop substantial familiarity with BlackRock's analytical and technology platform in this role. This role combines deep analytical and technical proficiency with capital markets expertise to provide advisory services to clients.

FMA was founded in 2008 in response to the unprecedented challenges governments, financial institutions, and central banks faced as they confronted the financial crisis. They sought an impartial authority with the expertise and technology to help address some of their most difficult and ambitious problems, from analyzing and unwinding complex asset portfolios to helping reassess central bank balance sheets. To meet that need, BlackRock established Financial Markets Advisory as a separate and independent business from BlackRock's traditional asset management business.

FMA advises financial institutions, regulators, and government entities on their most critical financial issues - from bank stress-testing to unwinding a portfolio of assets to crafting and implementing bond purchase programs to support the economy. We work with senior management at these organizations, focusing on balance sheet considerations as well as a wide range of other strategic, regulatory, and operational challenges.ResponsibilitiesThe job focuses on the development and usage of analytical platforms and infrastructure, including frequently BlackRock proprietary technology, to design, quality control, and deliver analyses to FMA clients. Candidates should have an understanding of capital markets and be able to apply creative solutions to solve client objectives and challenges. The role will draw upon expertise with risk systems and tools. A meticulous focus on robustness and scalability is crucial to help clients and foster business growth. The ideal applicant will craft solutions to address a variety of client objectives, rooted in a clear understanding of the client and business context driving client opportunities and challenges. The role involves regular interaction and engagement with partner teams across the firm.Qualifications

6+ years of proven experience in the financial services industryStrong Python programming skills and knowledge of Unix environment required; additional experience with other programming languages is a plusStrong experience with fixed income analyticsExperience using and/or developing financial analytical systems/tools; exposure to/understanding of AladdinFamiliarity with process implementation and productionUnderstanding of fundamental software design principles, development standards, and associated toolsDegree in a computer science, engineering, or similar fieldFor New York City only: The salary range for this position is $147,500 - $209,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including health care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.
