DEKA's Model Shop functions as an in house service bureau that works closely with members of the design team as well as engineers across all projects at the company. We make everything from small prototype parts and fixtures to help with engineering efforts; up to large full scale appearance models that we use to illustrate ideas to high profile clientele. We even do short run manufacturing to bridge the gap between development and production. The model shop provides key services to the company to help illustrate the vision of what the end product can look and function like. If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, apply today!How you will make an impact as a Model Maker at DEKA:Prep and paint parts in our automotive downdraft paint booth using an HVLP spray gunFinish 3D printed and machined partsSupport the existing model making team with day to day tasksProduce parts to drawing specificationsOperate a laser cutter, vinyl cutter, and a wide variety of hand and power toolsProduce silicone molds, color match and cast urethane parts, cycle moldsAssist in the creation of appearance models using a variety of fabrication methodsOrganize and maintain a clean working environmentThis candidate will be expected to challenge and grow their skill set as part of the Model Shop's efforts to find new ways to expand DEKA's prototyping capabilitiesTo be successful as a Model Maker, you will need the following skills and experience:One to five years of relevant work experienceAttention to detail; showcased through a portfolio of relevant workAbility and interest to learn new shop skills and computer programsExperience with HVLP paintingSelf-motivated and self-directedKnowledge of SolidWorks, Illustrator, and AutoCADEnjoys solving problems and naturally curious about new technologiesSilicone molding and casting experience is a plusFamiliar and capable with typical wood shop and machinist toolsRelevant college degreeHS graduates with impressive portfolios will be consideredSubmission Requirements:Applicants must provide a resume and a digital portfolio (smaller than 7 megabytes) demonstrating their capabilities upon applying for the position.
