Description
Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Coordinator is to provide the safest possible environment for YMCA members and participants in the pool area. Acts as a shift supervisor in the absence of Aquatics Director. Must have the ability to recognize a hazardous situation. They must be able to supervise swimmers, minimize dangers, educate members about water safety, enforce rules and regulations, prepare records and reports, and give assistance whenever needed.
This is a full-time hourly position consisting of 25-30 direct program hours a week, and additional department administrative duties. Assist the Aquatics Director with program implementation, staff training and development, member engagement, and department programming and promotion. Positions Specifics:Full time with 25 - 30 hours a week direct program hoursSchedule is based on the 6-8-week swim lesson terms and needs of the department
Certifications:Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED, and First Aid
Qualifications:
Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readinessMust demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standardsAbility to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the communityMinimum of three year's coaching, lifeguard, or swim instructor experienceMust be able to communicate effectively and have knowledge and understanding of administrative, management, financial, program, and human relations skillsMinimum of 2years supervisory experienceThis is a full-time, hourly position with an extensive benefit package that includes:
