Its postgraduate medical education programs include family medicine and transitional year.Job SummaryUnder the general direction of the Director of Decision Support, assists business partners with implementing and utilizing decision support and business intelligence (BI) software solutions to achieve clinical and business objectives. This includes: (1) meeting with and providing guidance to members of management including directors and executive leadership to maximize productive use of clinical data sources/applications (2) assisting with implementation efforts of BI technologies and tools including system selection / evaluation, analysis / design, development / implementation, and ongoing support / maintenance (3) providing clinical data reporting, management and analysis services to assist with problem solving, decision making and strategic planning (4) promoting/ensuring system data integrity by applying clinical knowledge to resolve system issues as well as identify enhancements to improve data quality and clinical operational efficiencies. Maintains/promotes excellent communications and interpersonal relationships, serving as liaison between business units and IS as well as assists with end user education and report/data generation, analysis and interpretation.Minimum Qualifications•Minimum Education: Master's Degree in clinical field or other related field •Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Years of experience in healthcare environment; 3 Years of experience required as analyst in IT, BI, Decision Support or clinical operations/performance improvement area supporting use of clinical application solutions including 2 years of reporting design and development or clinically oriented analytics experience (may overlap with above)•Substitutable Education & Experience: A Master's Degree with 2 years of experience in healthcare environment can be substituted for one of the following: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Clinical Informatics, Healthcare Management or other related clinical field with 4 years of experience in related clinical services area;Associate's Degree in area of clinical practice plus 6 years of experience in related clinical services area;8 Years of experience in a combination of related clinical services areas and IT.•Required Certifications/Licensure: Must be willing to obtain vendor and/or technical EHR certifications as required.•Required Training: Proven clinical information analytics experience interpreting/understanding business unit requirements, identifying process improvement opportunities, resolving system problems/issues by implementing/applying appropriate technological solutions;Proven experience with using reporting technologies/tools (ex. OLAP, Crystal Reports, Cognos, Business Objects, SQL) to develop BI solutions including data extracts, queries, reports, dashboards, scorecards to meet end user requirements regarding access to system information;Enhanced understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles and practices including data warehouse technologies, data governance and data modeling;Excellent project management and organizational skills with ability to coordinate concurrent projects and handle multiple priorities, ambiguity, continuous change and high-pressure situations;Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with ability to effectively deal with conflicts in cross functional environments, and ability to serve as an effective change agent/advocate;Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with ability to evaluate problems, identify and implement creative, innovative and effective solutions;Proficiency in PC productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, Access, PowerPoint).Essential Functions Provides consultation services support to all levels of management to optimize clinical utilization of business intelligence applications, reporting tools and data sources in compliance with data governance controls and change management procedures. Determines and understands cross functional clinical business needs, issues and data challenges; consistently promote data quality and governance to help ensure integrity of revenue, clinical, budget, operational, forecast and other key enterprise information assets. Collaborates with internal customers to develop analyses that lead to actionable insights that improve patient care, patient safety staff productivity or accelerate profitability (increase revenue and/or reduce costs), Provides hospital departments with the tools, technology, and applications to access clinical, financial, and administrative information on a timely basis. Serves as clinical resource to Accounting, Patient Financial Services, Internal Audit and external third parties (i.e. regulatory, governmental agencies) assisting with data interpretation, analysis and control (HIPAA) compliancy. Demonstrates proficiency in use of BI system application tools including report writers (Crystal, Business Objects, Cognos), screen designers, import/export utilities as well as drill down features/analyzers (OLAP). Provides support for clinical performance improvement initiatives and under-performing key metric areas with data needs and analysis working closely with end users on how to research, analyze and interpret data to identify issues and opportunities including faster and more efficient ways to manipulate, analyze, report and disseminate data. Serves as process change advocate; research and challenge existing processes, assist with development of process change recommendations based upon pertinent data analysis in order to help improve clinical system workflows. Coordinates/participates in interviews with departmental users to determine requirements for data, reports, analyses, metadata, training, service levels, data quality and performance Serves as liaison between IS and Clinical, Operational and Financial leadership in support of organizational clinical decision-making, initiatives and strategic planning activities including disseminating clinical / operational / financial information to appropriate levels of management. Works collaboratively across service lines, functions and levels of organization; meeting with managers/directors/ administrators to design and develop analytical and operational reports to assist them with their strategic, financial, and operational decision making processes. Assist with clinical business unit analysis, requirements definitions, source data identification, data quality definitions, data extraction, transformation, load/import (ETL) and summarization processing.Duties & Responsibilities Designs, develops, tests, documents and implements templates, filters, reports, dashboards, scorecards and extracts to leverage data environment to meet business unit needs. Facilitates audits and data validation meetings with cross functional teams to insure accuracy and appropriate interpretation of reported clinical performance standards and key metrics by service area, entity, system and/or department. Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level data into details, abstract up from low level data to general understanding and distinguish user request from underlying true needs. Participates in clinical data modeling, metadata development and data security administration activities including identification/maintenance/documentation of usage standards and data element, calculation, metric and statistical definitions. Works with IS team members to translate clinical data requirements into technical specifications, help identify and assess potential data sources and establish procedures to insure data quality including validation of ETL processing. Participates in project management tasks, support team goals, objectives and timelines as required working with a sense of urgency and accuracy to ensure effective implementation as well as initiate/maintain project resources, plan documentation and coordinate communication updates as necessary. Assists with system selections/acquisition of BI and Decision Support applications, programs and tools, including hardware and software procurement, coordinate initial system design, configuration and implementation and provide end user education as required. Evaluates other new applications implemented within the organization with respect to determining the impact to business intelligence data sources. Assists with maintaining related system documentation to support new implementations, software upgrades, modifications and customizations including configuration manuals, data definitions, in-house diagrams and process flow charts as well as provides testing, upgrade and implementation support as needed. Prepares and present to different groups in an effective manner appropriate for the audience. Utilizes clinical expertise to strengthen the knowledge and skills of related team members. Attends continuing education courses, seminars and conferences to keep abreast of BI and Decision Support technology developments.
