The Department of Epidemiology, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health seeks a

Biostatistician

to work as an integral part of a data analysis center study team. The Biostatistician will collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and investigators in a variety of fields to manage and analyze complex multicenter longitudinal data. The successful applicant will contribute to the development and application of statistical methods to advance the scientific goals of a national child's health study.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Statistical AnalysisImplement differential equation solvers and perform Bayesian statistical analyses to interpret simulation results.Apply advanced statistical techniques to analyze data and derive meaningful insights.

Data Curation

Curate and manage epidemiological data from sources such as the CDC and local public health agencies.Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and relevance for ongoing research and analysis.

Custom Code DevelopmentWrite and optimize custom code in R and/or other programming languages to facilitate complex simulations.Develop scripts for data processing and simulation tasks.

Model MaintenanceMaintain and update model code to ensure it remains relevant and effective in addressing key public health questions.Implement improvements and refinements to enhance model performance and accuracy.

Literature ReviewConduct comprehensive literature reviews on syphilis and HIV epidemiology to inform model development and research strategiesStay updated with current trends and findings in epidemiology to ensure the models reflect the latest scientific knowledge.

Minimum QualificationsMaster's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related quantitative field.One year related experience.Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred QualificationsExperience in public health or infectious disease epidemiology.Experience in HIV and sexually transmitted diseases epidemiology.Familiarity with additional programming languages or statistical software.Familiarity with concepts in modeling and simulation analysis.Experience in using differential equation solvers and Bayesian statistical methodsSolid planning and organizational skills, ability to prioritize work independently, andwork for periods without daily direction from investigators.
