We are seeking a

Sr. Research Assistant

(SRA) who will be responsible for supporting research activities for the India Clinical Research portfolio under Dr. Amita Gupta, the Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. This position will report directly to the Sr. Research Program Manager in the Baltimore-based Center for Infectious Diseases in India (CIDI) and closely coordinate with research teams in India. The SRA portfolio will include complex TB and HIV clinical research studies being implemented in partnership with academic institutions in India, primarily supporting the TB RePORT India consortium portfolio. This person is a critical member of a fast-paced international team of researchers, administrative staff, and study coordinators.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

TB RePORT Consortium-specific Research SupportSupport the implementation of the common protocol.Facilitate consortium monitoring activities for quality assurance, including site monitoring plans.Prepare monthly data tables for reporting to the PI, research team, collaborators, and funding agency.Facilitate communications between sites and between operational hubs in the US and India.Prepare for the annual meeting, including preparing data tables, summarizing protocol accruals and retention, and presenting publications associated with the consortium.Assist the RePORT India consortium with secondary analyses and the use of archived samples for relevant science, track availability of samples and applications for sample use.

General Research Support for CIDIProvide protocol development, study implementation, and research dissemination support to complex clinical studies, maintaining a good working knowledge of all assigned projects.Generalized support for the HATHI study, JHUBI Clinical Trials Unit, and other ongoing studies.Review, edit, and finalize study-related documents (protocols, case report forms, study SOPs) in collaboration with PIs and study teams.Conduct literature reviews, draft data tables, and conduct scientific writing/editing to support research dissemination. Format abstracts/manuscripts and submit them to conferences/journals.Provide assistance in developing effective visualizations, posters, and presentations for scientific conferences and donor reporting.Assist research teams in performing/coordinating quantitative and qualitative data analysis.Support database creation for study-specific needs.Prioritize building effective working relationships with US and international team members and collaborators in service of common goals.

Student ExchangesRespond to student email inquiries and assess applicants' CVs.Track applications and matching with mentors in project management software.Schedule and conduct initial interviews and request follow-up meetings.Determine and track available studies or manuscripts appropriate for student contributions.Monitor current placements quarterly and regularly update the student placement tracker with applicable changes.Supervise and coordinate student placements at the Baltimore location.

Knowledge ManagementMaintain and update CIDI Indo-US SOPs related to authorship, manuscripts, and abstracts.Develop reports based on CIDI Publications/abstract database using project management software; track publications in progress in collaboration with study coordinators; present reports to Indo-US leadership and Indo-US research team every quarter.Track scientific conferences/events and facilitate the participation of the research team.Update and maintain a portfolio tracker in project management software to keep track of regulatory, financial, sub-award contracting and invoicing, and reporting deadlines.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in a related discipline.Two years of related experience.Additional graduate-level education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred QualificationsMPH or MS in relevant field preferred.

Experience conducting health-related research.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, reference managers, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.

Familiarity with statistical software (for example STATA, R) and database software (for example: REDCap, Qualtrics).Knowledge of clinical research practices and principles.
