The Johns Hopkins University Department of Genetic Medicine is seeking a

Research Technologist

who will work under the general supervision of a faculty investigator.

Special Duties & Responsibilities:

The primary duties include, but are not limited to, independently performing routine research testing and contributing to the general maintenance of the lab, supplies and equipment.Use basic science knowledge to learn techniques/methods of the lab.Performs laboratory experiments by following common protocols or with instruction.This may require techniques associated with molecular biology.May also be responsible for tissue bank inventory and management.Must operate basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuge, pH meter, analytical balance, spectrophotometer, light microscope, and utilizes laminar flow hood.Operates lab computers for data entry and extraction.Will utilize in vivo models in experiments following experimental protocols, monitors animals and maintains health records in accordance with USDA and AALAC guidelines.Prepares tissue for study utilizing histochemical techniques.Will undertake cell culture of animal and human cells including induced pluripotent stem cells, in accordance with approved institutional ethical practices and HIPAA.Inoculates drug/chemical agent, sacrifices and dissects animal remains as required.Maintains accurate data records.Prepares solutions, reagents, and stains following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.Monitors inventory levels, orders material and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures, counts orders upon receipt.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or related field

Preferred QualificationsSome related post-undergraduate work experience.
