The Department of International Health is seeking a casual

Research Assistant

to support the project "Scaling Up Community-based Noncommunicable Disease Research into Practice in Pokhara Metropolitan City of Nepal (SCALE-NCD)"; a five-year implementation research study addressing hypertension, diabetes, and smoking by mobilizing Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) in Pokhara Metropolitan City of Nepal.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

The staff will supportActivities during the start-up phase (e.g., IRB applications, Manual of Operation development, notetaking, and data collection tool development) A series of rapid literature review.

Quantitative data analysis.Rapid literature review will aim at identifying.Potential structured barriers that prevent CHW-based interventions from being integrated into health systems in Nepal.Implementation research studies addressing cardiovascular risk factors in Nepal and other counties with similar contexts, among others.Quantitative analysis will aim at understanding the socio-economic characteristics of FCHVs and community population, ultimately identifying the high-risk group who are in need of the intervention but may not have access due to their socio-economic and physical characteristics.This is a type 2 hybrid implementation research study, so your interest and understanding in implementation research science is a key.The study is a collaboration between Johns Hopkins University and Nepal Development Society (NeDS) and is funded by the NHLBI.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in related discipline.Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred QualificationsExposure to implementation research through coursework or applied experience, in the context of international health and/or NCDs (required).Exposure to general start-up activities in research studies, such as IRB applications, manual of operation development, and data collection tool development.Basic quantitative analysis skills, including data cleaning, table 1 development, multiple logistic regressions, and heatmap development.Prior experience conducting series of rapid literature reviews.Ability to work independently, is self-motivated, is detail-oriented, and has strong verbal/written skills.
