Widener University is currently seeking a full-time Shuttle Bus Driver on our campus in Chester, PA. This role reports to the Assistant Director of Transportation and provides transportation support to all faculty, students and staff across campus. The schedule for this role is First or Second Shift, Monday - Friday, although hours may vary.
Pay range begins at $16.00 per hour.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(including, but not limited to) :
Provide safe and professional shuttle service to the campus community and surrounding areasAbility to operate 14 passenger vehiclesConduct pre- and post-trip vehicle safety inspectionsMaintain interior and exterior of vehicle to ensure safety and cleanlinessMaintain assigned route and time scheduleComply with all state and federal rules and regulations, as well as University policies and proceduresMaintain a friendly, helpful demeanorMonitor roadways and parking lot areas for potential hazards to vehicle and passengersMaintain accurate rider log as instructedSecondary responsibilities:
Responsible to write and file reports as neededAbility to operate a radio or any equipment located in vehicleReport all incidents to dispatch office as directedPerform other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(education/training and experience required):
Required:
High school graduate or equivalentValid driver's license with a clean driving record for past five (5) yearsAbility to operate vehicle in inclement weatherDemonstrated ability to communicate tactically (written and verbal) with passengers and colleagues tactfully and effectivelySuperior interpersonal skillsAbility to operate a computer, radio or equipment located in vehicleAbility to effectively manage time and prioritizeDemonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently as well as in a team environmentAbility to handle demanding situations tactfullyPreferred:
Previous professional experience in driving large groupsValid commercial driver's licenseFamiliarity with the local area and communityExperience in a customer service-related roleExperience working at a school or universityPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
May work weekends, holidays, nights, and special eventsSitting in a vehicle for extended periods of timeAbility to enter and exit vehicle as often as needed to assist passengersAbility and willingness to work in inclement weatherOccasionally lift and carry items, up to 40 - 50 lbs.Ability to sit, stand, reach, kneel, squat and bend
