Vaco is currently recruiting for a Lead Accountant for a stable, growing and large corporation in the Richmond, VA area. The company has excellent benefits and growth opportunity. The role is a hybrid schedule.
Job Summary
This individual contributor role currently reports directly to the Controller in support of the company's business segments and will participate in various assignments and analyses involving special accounting projects, some of which may be complex.
Participation in such projects generally involves developing recommended accounting positions for current or proposed transactions, including review of new or modified contracts, consulting on business development activities as well as the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards. This role routinely interacts with colleagues within and without the accounting organization and may provide leadership including functional advice and training to less experienced accountants.
In addition to special assignments, this role is responsible for performing certain monthly and quarterly procedures that may include but are not limited to:
Facilitating the review and compilation of comments on quarterly and annual SEC filings, and accompanying disclosure and control checklist submissions. Monitoring the status and completeness of the Controller group's SOX control procedures. Facilitating periodic update meetings with other accounting groups on current issues. Peer reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Needed:
Excellent and effective communication (written and verbal) around complex accounting and business concepts to varying audiences within the organization, including peers, management, and auditors. 6 years of accounting experience in industry or public accounting Must be an agile self-starter who can problem-solve independently, provide solutions, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred BS in Accounting or Finance Customer-service focused with ability to contribute innovative ideas and see those changes through to implementation. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:
the individual's skill sets, experience and training; licensure and certification requirements; office location and other geographic considerations; other business and organizational needs.
With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
