We are seeking a Database Programmer / Administrator to join our team in Silver Spring, MD. The ideal candidate will have an active Secret clearance and SEC+ Certification, along with experience in administering, managing, and designing various database management systems. The role involves overseeing database projects, ensuring integrity and security, developing web-based interfaces, and creating and maintaining reporting systems. Estimated Starting Salary Range for
Database Administrator : $135-145,000 Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. Database Administrator Responsibilities Include: Researches, Administers, manages, designs, documents, and evaluates a variety of database management systems including Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, and other Database Management Systems (DBMS). Maintains and administers database server and middleware tools used to develop Web database systems and framework. Develops and enforces database administration and user standards and procedures. Evaluates database server integrity and security. Audits, modifies, and amends data in systems using SQL commands, hand-editing, and bulk import. Oversees the scheduling of database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple SQL Servers and remote sites. Assumes the technical lead for SQL Server and online database projects. Assists software engineers in the development of web-based interfaces to database systems. Assists information system analysts in the development of SQL queries, including for data mining. Reviews technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials produced by staff. Creates and maintains high-level reporting systems using products such as Crystal Reports, SSRS, SQL Server Report Builder, Tableau, and Power BI. Researches and implements new database and online technology. Ensures that IT programs and databases comply with all applicable regulations and policies, including Federal, DA and MEDCOM. Communicates project status, issues, and resolutions as required. Develops database and related application documentation as required. Performs complex technical, analytical and professional services involving program/member services, evaluation, database driven Web sites, office operations support, and problem resolution. Maintains and administers Web server and middleware tools used to develop Web database systems and framework. Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), templates and forms, (including, but not limited to, database backup; and log monitoring and management plans) Performs other job-related duties as assigned Database Administrator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: B.S. Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems Must have an active Secret Clearance. Must possess a Security Plus certification. Experience designing, installing, implementing and administering SQL Server databases and servers in the DoD environment within the last 8 years. Experience implementing MS SSRS systems and developing and deploying reports within the last 5 years. Minimum of 2 years of experience administering relational databases of 500+ GB in size Experience with MS SQL Server 2008 R2; experience with other commercial reporting and analytic tools like Tableau, Power BI, Crystal reports, etc.; web application development experience. Possess current/active MS SQL database related industry certification.
