Provide both bus and/or van transportation for off campus trips.Responsibilities:Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Performs pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections. Check safety equipment/first aid supplies. Reports equipment concerns/malfunctions in writing immediately.Assumes responsibility for the interior/exterior cleanliness of the vehicle.Follows approved health/safety guidelines to clean up injuries involving chemicals, solvents, blood, body fluids and/or body tissues. Reports personal injuries that require treatment to a supervisor.Fuels the vehicle. Monitors fluid levels (e.g., oil, windshield washer, brake, transmission, etc.). Documents fuel consumption and mileage.Reports traffic citations, accidents, or damage that occurs during performance of assigned duties.Directs passenger loading/unloading. Operates the wheelchair lift. Check seat belts. Secures wheelchairs and other assistance/mobility equipment before the bus starts.Communicates bus rules to students. Assumes full responsibility for monitoring and controlling student conduct on the bus. Keeps supervisors informed about persistent behavior problems.Qualifications:High school diploma or GED. Successful completion of state pre-service bus driver training program.Valid Commercial Driver's license (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsements.Ongoing participation in training necessary to maintain required license and endorsements.Meets all prerequisite and ongoing qualifications to be covered by the career center's insurance carrier.Ability to cope with stressful traffic, weather conditions, and passenger distractions.Completion of the state pre-service school bus driver training program and participation in ongoing training.Complies with all pupil transportation operation and safety rules found in Ohio Administrative Code.Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline, and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.Embodies high ethical standards and integrity. Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.Interacts confidently with others and displays a strong customer-service focus.Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.Meets all mandated health screening requirements.Physical ability to safely lift and manage preschoolers and students with disabilities.Satisfactory pre-employment and ongoing random drug/alcohol test results.Shows evidence of core computer competencies deemed appropriate at the time of hire.Works effectively with limited supervision. Manages tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.Salary

Appropriate placement on the Miscellaneous/Intermittent Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience. Salary will be $21.00/hr., Class IX, One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.Other Benefits:

School Employees Retirement System and Worker's Compensation. Upon hire, additional benefits may be offered depending upon hours worked, job classification, and placement on the Upper Valley Career Center Salary Schedule. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.Performance Evaluation:

Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.
