Primary Function:

Assist management with daily workflow of mortgage applications. Provide guidance to Loan Processor, Originators and Closers with workload when necessary. Evaluate mortgage and/or consumer loan applications for compliance to government, internal and investor standards. Approve, modify, or deny investment and portfolio loans. Provide financial counseling for members. Update and maintain policy and procedure manual.

Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist management with supervision of overall daily workflow of mortgage applications through entire process, which includes providing guidance to loan officers, processors and closers.Process and approve mortgage and consumer loan applications: answer questions, verify applications for completeness, conduct credit investigation, determine value and status of collateral (if any), establish a signature limit (if applicable), approve advances for preapproved signature loans, determine debt ratio, and document loan decision in writing. Authority lending limit to be dictated per the lending authority chart in the Consumer Loan/ Mortgage Loan Policy Manual.Deny loan applications not in conformance with credit union policies. Prepare necessary notifications and forms. Refer rejected loans to the Senior Mortgage Underwriter as needed. Discuss denials with members as outlined by policy. Document loan denials. Refer loans beyond limits to management or Loan Review CommitteeRemain current on changes within the legal, regulatory, economic, and competitive and technology environments, which may affect consumer lending program. Responsible for remaining current on credit life mortgage insurance program features and costs.Maintain loan information on computer and all follow-up paperwork including: review of daily loan minutes to acknowledge previous day's loans, responsible for preparing payroll deduction, distribution and allotment forms, clearing conditions for closing and signing off, assist in clearing up post closing problems as they arise.Understand and describe the purpose of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti Money Laundering, and Office of Foreign Asset Control policy (OFAC). Identify the BSA Administrator and responsibilities. Complete annual BSA training. Know where to find the BSA policies, procedures, and forms.Responsible for processing member information and transactions consistent with BSA policy and procedures. Understand the regulatory requirements and the internal BSA/AML policies, procedures, and processes. Understand and describe; Suspicious Activity Report (SAR), Currency Transaction Report (CTR), Customer Due Diligence policy (CDD), and Office of Foreign Asset Control policy (OFAC). Complete and file appropriate forms in a timely manner; Suspicious Activity Report, Currency Transaction Report, Document CRM consistently as directed by operational procedures.Skills, Knowledge, and AbilityKnow all features and benefits of the credit union's products and services.Thorough knowledge of organization's policies/procedures and credit union's service philosophy.Thorough knowledge of safety and security program for false alarms, robberies, bomb threats, extortion, identity theft, and fraud.Thorough knowledge and proficiency of credit union's computer systems (FSP, CRM, etc.)Thorough knowledge of state and federal consumer real estate lending regulations.Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions.Ability to serve as backup to other Mortgage Loan representatives.Behavioral Model; What activities are involved.

b) Prepare and maintain loan files, confidential records and reports.

c) Analyze statistics and financial data, relevant facts and develop solutions.

d) Assess needs of multiple members and prioritize requests ensuring highest quality service possible.

e) Processes member information and transactions consistent with BSA procedures.

e) Exercise judgment under general direction to interpret, act upon and handle daily routine.

f) Provide assistance with training of new employees.

Education and Experience

Job requires a four year college level of language, math and reasoning skills and three years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. Formal position training should be supplemented with continuing education. This is an exempt position.
