Koniag Professional Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services is seeking a highly skilled Senior PHP/Drupal Cloud Developer to support the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health Services Department (OMH), through dynamic and fast-paced development and management of the Office of Minority Health (OMH) website. In this role, you'll primarily focus on migrating an existing Drupal theme to comply with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS), while also contributing to back-end tasks when needed. This is a dynamic opportunity for a developer who thrives in both front-end and back-end Drupal development, ensuring the overall success of the project.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Lead the front-end migration of the existing Drupal theme to a USWDS-compliant Drupal theme while preserving the website's current look and feel.
Build, test, and maintain front-end components using CSS/SCSS, HTML, and Javascript, ensuring the website is responsive and performs efficiently across devices and browsers.
Ensure all front-end code complies with WCAG 2 / Section 508 accessibility standards.
Collaborate with the team to resolve back-end issues, such as Drupal module configuration, custom PHP functionality, and API integrations as needed.
Assist with back-end tasks including custom module development, troubleshooting, and working with Drupal’s configuration management system as needed.
Participate in user experience (UX) testing and research, using insights to improve front-end functionality and user interaction.
Work closely with designers, project managers, content editors and other developers to ensure seamless integration of USWDS components.
Address and resolve production issues affecting both front-end and back-end site performance, including fixing high-priority bugs.
Contribute to Agile sprints, daily scrums, and sprint planning while delivering high-quality code on time.
Document front-end and back-end processes to ensure maintainability and facilitate team collaboration.
Support Operations and Maintenance activities to ensure 24/7/365 up time using Cloud.gov on a very stable platform.
Follow NIST security standards and 508 compliances in all design.
Support researching any items related to Authorization-To-Operate or vulnerability scans.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or 5 years web development experience
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience required:
5 years of development experience with a strong focus on front-end theming, and some hands-on experience with back-end development tasks within Drupal.
Front-end skills:
Proficiency in CSS/SCSS, HTML, Javascript, TWIG, and implementing design systems like USWDS.
Familiarity with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust
Back-end skills:
Entry to Mid-level knowledge of PHP, custom Drupal module development, and familiarity with Drupal’s configuration management (e.g., Drush, Composer).
Knowledge of WCAG 2 / Section 508 accessibility standards and best practices.
Experience with tools such as Git, npm, and gulp for managing development workflows.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with Agile development processes and the ability to contribute in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
Experience with Operations Maintenance and Support.
A growth mindset with a willingness to expand back-end capabilities while refining front-end expertise.
Experience with responding to vulnerability scans, penetration tests or getting Authorization-To-Operate is not required but a strong attribute.
Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
