Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Performs server hardware support which includes implementation, installation, configuration, maintenance, performance monitoring and troubleshooting of all servers, tape drives and associated hardware peripherals and OS, databases, and backup software; determines when server, software, and OS upgrades, updates, or patches are required and ensures that all are loaded; loads and maintains up-to-date anti-virus definition files on all servers; monitors and protects the network from intrusion; monitors server utilization to proactively address needed upgrades or changes; develops and maintains network documentation; performs communication hardware/software support which includes implementation, installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring performance and troubleshooting of all routers, switches, and firewalls (networking equipment is mainly Cisco); determines when router, switch, and firewall upgrades, updates, or patches are required and performs the necessary updates; takes ownership of all server, router, switch, and firewall incidents until the situation has been resolved. Creates and maintains a climate of continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities for service improvements and internal efficiencies.

Working Conditions
Adverse working conditions include, but are not limited to, extreme cold, dust, and confined spaces. Must be available to work Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., overtime as needed; must be able to work odd hours and weekends.Minimum Essential Qualifications
Knowledge : Knowledge of TCP/IP sub netting, switching, routing, VPN, VOIP. Experience with setting up and configuring Cisco routers, switches, access points, and FortiGate firewalls preferred. Experience with VPN and remote access deployments preferred. Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning. Knowledge of anti-virus strategies. Experience with Active Directory & group policy. Experience with SAN, NAS, and fiber channel storage implementation preferred. Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008/2012.
Skills/Abilities:
Must have professional verbal and written communication skills. Must be organized and meticulous. Enjoys working in a fast-paced, high energy environment. Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions. Ability to follow standard operating procedures. Ability to work independently and with a team. Ability to meet project deadlines. Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software, hardware and network problems.
Physical Requirements:
Constantly sees and hears; must be able to differentiate colors and see small objects at close range; frequently climbs, drives, twists body, reads, squats, crouches, crawls, writes by hand, speaks, stands, walks, sits, stoops, uses physical dexterity, bends, carries objects weighing up to 25 lbs., pushes objects weighing up to 70 lbs., lifts and moves objects weighing up to 55 lbs.
Education/Experience:
Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field preferred; three (3) years of system/network administration experience. Microsoft MCSE certification, Cisco certification preferred.

Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license.
